Swim With Sally
Swimming has taken me places I never expected—not just down Detroit River, across lakes, and through open water, but into friendships, adventures, and a deeper appreciation for what I'm capable of when I simply keep going.
This is an invitation. To join me in the water, wherever you are.
Whether you're training for an event, swimming laps at your local pool, exploring open water, or just getting started, I'd love for you to join me and #SwimWithSally.
Every swim counts. Every swimmer is welcome.

Stories from the Water
How I Swim
June: The First Dip
After a long Michigan winter, June is about getting back in the water.
The first swims are rarely about distance. For me, they're about reacquainting myself with cold water, finding my rhythm again, and remembering why I love to swim.
Some days it's just a short swim. Some days it's simply getting in.
July: Building the Distance
By July, swimming feels more natural again.
The water is warmer, my confidence grows, and the distances begin to stretch. This is the month of steady progress.
Not every swim is easy yet. But with each swim, I try to reach 100 meters.
August: Finding the Joy
Now the lake feels like home.
My focus shifts from training to simply enjoying the experience. Sunrise swims. Exploring new routes. Watching the shoreline drift by.
This is when I remember that swimming is about being present.
Now I swim 2,000 meters at a time.
From Title IX to Lake Huron, this is a story about starting again—and how swimming became a path back to strength, clarity, and connection.
